West Ham United centre-back was clearly not happy with the way that Julen Lopetegui instructed his team to play against Liverpool.
Liverpool absolutely had their way with West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday.
Max Kilman was powerless to prevent any of the attacks that the Reds launched on our goal.
And I think Julen Lopetegui was to blame for that with the way that he set his team up to sit off the Liverpool players.
The Spaniard is said to be very close to getting the sack.
And Kilman’s latest comments don’t bode well at all for Lopetegui.
Max Kilman aims dig at Julen Lopetegui
The 27-year-old centre-back has been one of our more consistent performers this season.
It’s clear to see why Lopetegui was so desperate to bring him to the London Stadium from Wolves.
However, one of the Spaniard’s closest allies has just very clearly aimed a dig at him.
When speaking to WHUFC.com, Kilman bemoaned the passive way that his team set up to take on Liverpool:
The Hammers defender said, “Of course, it’s Liverpool, but we’re also a top side, and we’re playing at home, so we needed to show more of ourselves to them and perform better than that. We had to be on the front foot against them, had to dominate more and be more aggressive.“
That’s a back-handed dig if I ever heard one.
Max Kilman is clearly highlighting the fact that West Ham were too passive against Liverpool and I agree with him – Julen Lopetegui should have set us up far more on the front foot.
And Kilman pointing that out could well be the death knell for the 58-year-old Hammers head coach.
