Liverpool had their way with West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday, running out as 5-0 winners in the end.
It was a shocking performance from West Ham in general, and Liverpool were far too good for us.
Max Kilman actually came out and criticised the tactics used by Julen Lopetegui for the Liverpool game.
He was right as well – the Hammers were far too passive and allowed the visitors to impose themselves onto the contest too easily.
It was a dark day for West Ham at the London Stadium.
The 2024/25 campaign has been a brutally tough one for the Hammers so far.
However, after the dust settled on our shocking 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool, things got even worse for us.
West Ham hit with worst news and journalist blames Liverpool star
Our best player this season has been Jarrod Bowen, there’s no doubt about that.
Sure, the 28-year-old hasn’t been at his brilliant best in every single game, but he has dragged us through numerous sticky patches, and his consistency in the way he applies himself is second to none.
It doesn’t bear thinking about where we would be without the former Hull City star this season.
However, we will now have to do without him for quite some time.
Bowen took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the message that he has fractured his ankle, and we’ll now have to make do without him for two-three months.
Alexis Mac Allister caught Bowen on the ankle after a nasty challenge early on in the second-half during our 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.
And journalist Lee Clayton has gone where no other media personality has by laying the blame for Bowen’s injury squarely at the Liverpool midfielder’s feat.
It does seem strange to me that Mac Allister wasn’t even booked for the challenge.
Even weirder is the fact that it has been totally brushed over from commentators, journalists and media personalities.
West Ham were soundly beaten by Liverpool on Sunday, I’m not denying that.
And losing Jarrod Bowen to a long-term injury made the result hurt even more.
However, the fact that Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister completely escaped punishment after the incident was beyond a joke.
