West Ham United could be dealt a major blow by Chelsea in the January transfer window it seems.
Chelsea and West Ham are both expected to be busy in the January transfer window, with Julen Lopetegui and Enzo Maresca keen to add more balance to their respective squads.
Despite a recent dip in form, Chelsea have really impressed this season, whilst the Hammers have been underwhelming to say the least.
A big squad rebuild is required at the London Stadium – madness when you think we’ve attempted to do exactly that during the last two summer transfer windows.
In order to facilitate that rebuild, we may need to make a big sale with Mohammed Kudus being linked with a move to Arsenal.
If that helps us sign two or three top-class players, then it could actually be something to be excited about rather than feared.
However, there is some bad news emerging with Chelsea set to hurt West Ham this winter.
Chelsea to deal West Ham severe January window blow
The Hammers face a problem ahead.
That’s because Chelsea are said to be lining up a move to sign one of West Ham’s key January targets.
According to a report from Sky Sport CH, Chelsea are open to bringing Tomori back to Stamford Bridge in January.
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move to sign the centre-back, with AC Milan asking for around £20 million this month.
Tomori has been labelled as an ‘exceptionally good’ player by Sempre Milan.
The 27-year-old is a superb centre-back and he would improve the Hammers’ back-line immeasurably.
With that in mind, missing out on Tomori to Chelsea would really hurt.
The 27-year-old centre-back is a top-class player, and it goes without saying that he’d be a big upgrade on Konstantinos Mavropanos, perhaps Jean-Clair Todibo as well.
Tomori has been a huge success out in Italy since leaving Chelsea to join the Serie A giants in the summer of 2021.
The former Chelsea man is incredibly strong in the air, and possesses decent pace. He’s an intelligent defender and his positional awareness is absolutely spot on.
Chelsea signing Fikayo Tomori in the January window would be a severe blow for West Ham as far as I’m concerned.
