PSG begins its winter transfer window with one priority: downsizing its squad. Among the players pushed out, Randal Kolo Muani occupies a central place. Recruited at a high price in 2023 (€90 million) from Eintracht Frankfurt, the French striker failed to establish himself in Luis Enrique’s plans. Placarded for several weeks, it is now open for departure.
PSG uncompromising on the Kolo Muani case
According to L’Équipe, PSG has set strict conditions to part ways with its 26-year-old striker. Exit the idea of a dry loan: the Parisian club favors a permanent transfer, hoping to recover at least €60 million. However, a loan with a purchase option remains possible, provided that the terms are advantageous, in particular regarding the payment of salary and the terms of exercise of the option.
Several European clubs have positioned themselves in recent weeks. At the top of the potential buyers, teams like Bayern Munich, Leipzig and Juventus Turin. In England, Manchester United and Aston Villa have also reportedly expressed interest. On the other hand, Chelsea seem to have ruled out this option.
A difficult but necessary decision
Despite an impeccable attitude and a state of mind praised internally, Kolo Muani only played 14 matches during the first part of the season. A delicate situation for a player accustomed to starting status, particularly in the French team, where he scored six goals in 2024.
For PSG, this departure represents an opportunity to reduce its payroll while replenishing its coffers. If the club manages to complete this sale, it could reinvest in the transfer market, in particular to strengthen its central defense, where an understudy for Marquinhos is sought. In the meantime, the future of the former Nantes player remains uncertain, but one thing is certain: the Ile-de-France club will not sell off its attacker.
