Jarrod Bowen suffered a serious injury during West Ham United’s defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
And Julen Lopetegui discussed the West Ham skipper’s problem with the media this afternoon.
Jarrod Bowen took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a message about his injury, and stated that he has fractured his ankle.
It has been claimed that we will now have to make do without our talisman for two-three months – shocking news indeed.
The 28-year-old has been one of the few bright sparks for the Hammers throughout what has been a horrendous 2024/25 campaign so far.
With that in mind, the thought of having to make do without him for so long is a hugely concerning one.
However, Lopetegui has just provided some real hope for the West Ham fans.
Julen Lopetegui responds when asked about Jarrod Bowen injury
The Hammers head coach addressed the media this afternoon ahead of our clash with Manchester City on Saturday.
Unsurprisingly, the first topic of conversation was about the Jarrod Bowen injury.
And Lopetegui’s response might just shock you, as quoted by WHUFC.com.
Well, it certainly surprised me, that’s for sure!
“Let’s see, but he’s going to be out for a few days for sure. Unfortunately for us he has an injury, he played for 30 minutes with it, and now he has to recover.“
“It’s not good news for us, but we are sure he will work hard on his recovery because of his character.“
“I prefer not to give a number of days, but we’ll see how things develop.“
I’m sorry…days?
The best we can hope for if it is indeed days we’re talking about is 30-60 surely.
I would be surprised if we see Jarrod Bowen back playing for West Ham before the end of February, after the ankle injury he sustained four days ago.
Lopetegui’s comments to reports today regarding Bowen’s expected recovery time were strange to say the least.
However, if he is back earlier than expected, it will be a really pleasant surprise.
