West Ham United were soundly beaten by Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
However, there was one West Ham man specifically who stood out as being particularly poor.
The Hammers have been woeful in general this season, and Julen Lopetegui is being heavily linked with the sack.
After today’s thumping up at The Etihad, our hopes of achieving any kind of success with the Spaniard at the helm seem bleak to say the least.
We seem to be getting worse and worse with every single week that passes.
The longer Lopetegui stays at the London Stadium, the worse things will get, I’m convinced of that.
That said, the players have really let the Spaniard down as well.
£52k/pw West Ham man was appalling vs Manchester City
The Hammers had plenty of shocking performers out there against Man City.
However, one man proved once again that he shouldn’t be anywhere the Hammers starting lineup.
Vladimir Coufal was quite simply horrendous during our defeat to Man City – he really is incredibly easy to play against now.
Coufal, who earns £52k-a-week at the London Stadium (Salary Sport) has been so far off the pace over the past year or so it’s scary.
There is no way he should be starting for West Ham anymore.
In fact, I don’t think he would start for any other Premier League club.
The 32-year-old has absolutely no pace whatsoever, and he gets skinned by opposing players week in, week out.
Sure, he gives his all, but is that enough to warrant starting so regularly? The answer to that question is no in my opinion.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one of the very best right-backs in the league, but he’s being shoe-horned into the team at left-back in order to get Coufal into the side.
That’s just shocking management from Lopetegui as far as I’m concerned.
We have a supremely talented youngster in the form of Ollie Scarles who plays as a left-back.
Why not start him and move Wan-Bissaka to his best position? If Lopetegui really wants to get the fans back onside, I would suggest that he dumps Coufal from the starting lineup immediately.
West Ham lost to Manchester City on Saturday afternoon and the Czech Republic international’s performance cost us dearly.
