West Ham United defender Jean-Clair Todibo has flattered to deceive since joining the club in the summer.
Jean-Clair Todibo joined West Ham from Nice in the summer transfer window on loan – a deal that will be made permanent at the end of this season.
The Hammers managed to hijack Juventus’s move to sign the 24-year-old after Tim Steidten flew his jet over to France as the Turin giants closed in on the centre-back.
However, it has since been claimed that Todibo was in fact ‘forced’ to join West Ham.
That’s not exactly what you want when signing a new player is it?
And if I’m being honest, his performances for the Hammers have reeked of a player who doesn’t actually want to be at the London Stadium.
As far as I’m concerned, the sooner we move him on, the better. And it seems like that could well happen.
West Ham director makes big statement about Jean-Clair Todibo
The Frenchman has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League thus far.
It wouldn’t surprise me one little bit if he wasn’t a West Ham player by the time the start of next season rolls around.
A reporter out in Italy has just made an enormous claim about Todibo’s future with the Hammers.
When speaking to TuttoNapoli, Vincenzo Morabito shared what he has heard from someone very high up at the London Stadium.
He said, “For the moment Juventus have only a limited number of defenders. Todibo is sending messages to Juve, he regretted going to West Ham, but I think [Juve sporting director] Giuntoli is unlikely to go for players who have said no to him.
“This morning I spoke to the director of West Ham who told me that Todibo will leave, they spent €190 million there.”
Well, that’s quite the statement.
It doesn’t shock me one little bit though.
Maybe West Ham will be looking to activate the option to buy Jean-Clair Todibo permanently early in January, before selling him straight on for an immediate profit.
And if we do that, I wouldn’t have a problem with it one little bit. I want players who actually want to play for West Ham.
You know, ones who are willing to fight for the badge, and Todibo just does’t fit into that category unfortunately.
