Bayern Munich alum Javi Martínez is looking at this year’s Bundesliga race and seeing good signs for his former club.
The Bavarians have had their ups and downs but sit four points clear at the top of the table over defending champions Bayer Leverkusen, and boast a 11-3-1 record to date. Just two games shy of the halfway point, everything is looking good for the Rekordmeister…though there is much work still left between them and the Meisterschale.
And there is one guy he has in mind who would especially celebrate the occasion.
“Obviously, Bayern are the big favorites,” Martínez said to Marca (as captured via @iMiaSanMia). “Hopefully they win it, and Harry Kane will finally win the trophy that has been eluding him. It’s incredible. After 11 consecutive Bundesliga titles, he arrives in his first year at Bayern — and Leverkusen win it. We all want him to win his first trophy and break that curse.”
The curse is real? At least, Javi is speaking it into existence. What will it take to break the curse? True love’s kiss…or maybe just a strong and focused Rückrunde from the Bavarians?
