Tottenham are set to back Ange Postecoglou in the ongoing winter transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur have suffered countless injuries over weeks and months, hampering their progress in Ange Postecoglou’s second season in North London.
The likes of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Richarlison, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert and Mikey Moore have spent a significant amount of time on the sidelines due to injuries and illness, while Rodrigo Bentancur served a seven-game domestic ban for off-field issues.
In particular, the Spurs boss has been forced to turn to back-up shot-stopper, Fraser Forster, amid No.1 Guglielmo Vicario undergoing ankle surgery after fracturing his ankle in the 4-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in November. However, Forster has struggled in recent weeks, and the chiefs at the Hotspur Way quickly prioritised the need for a new goalkeeper.
Last week, Tottenham completed the signing of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Czech Republic side Slavia Prague—a player who is considered to have top potential, fitting in with the majority of the signings the North Londoners have made in recent transfer windows.

Of course, Ange Postecoglou has a lot of issues to fix in defence and attack after reinforcing the goalkeeping department, highly-regarded The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has now provided us with an update on the club’s plans for the rest of the January window. He confirmed that Postecoglou’s job was completely safe at White Hart Lane, outlining Daniel Levy’s plans to continue to back the manager despite an underwhelming first half of the season.
“They want to do more business in January, they would like to strengthen their defence and also their attack – less so their midfield because they’ve not been suffering from such injuries in that department,” David Ornstein said on NBC Sport.
“I think some loans are on the agenda, nothing imminent but conversations are in progress and possibly some permanent deals even, if it could be like Kinsky when they bring it forward, that they were already planning from the summer.
“They have no PSR issues, that means the finances are there for them to do something, and they’ve also got a lot of players to come back from injury, the likes of Richarlison and Mikey Moore are not too far away.
“And then the centre-backs who have been out, Romero and Van de Ven – I think towards the end of January, and then Vicario I think late February, into March.
“Ange Postecoglou is 100% safe in his job I’m told, there is no uncertainty over his future despite the pressure he appears to be feeling in some of his public comments – they’re backing him to lead this project forward and they will hope that he delivers.”
