West Ham United seem to be casting the net far and wide when it comes to possible alternatives to Graham Potter.
Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is the red-hot favourite to replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham.
Hopefully Potter will be appointed imminently, and the Hammers board have allegedly promised the 49-year-old that he will receive adequate backing in the January transfer window.
The former Chelsea, Brighton and Swansea coach favours a really attractive brand of easy-on-the-eye football.
The playing style he implements is like night and day from Lopetegui’s.
I am convinced that Potter is the man we need to take us to a whole new level entirely.
However, what happens if he doesn’t accept the terms on offer to him? Well, West Ham apparently have a contingency plan in place.
After Graham Potter talks, West Ham hold meeting with 58-yo boss
Potter has asked the Hammers owners for some time before he makes a final decision regarding whether to accept the contract offered to him.
I believe that he’ll be formally announced as the new West Ham boss imminently.
However, the Hammers board seemingly have another plan up their sleeves, just in case it doesn’t work out with Potter.
According to Independent journalist Miguel Delaney, West Ham have held talks with former PSG boss Christophe Galtier.
The Hammers were linked with a move to appoint the 58-year-old in early December.
Galtier has won five trophies during his time in management, including two league titles with Lille and PSG respectively.
He is a shrewd tactician, and the greatest achievement of the enigmatic Frenchman’s career was when he won the Ligue 1 title with Lille.
The former Lille and PSG boss is currently out of work, so his availability on a free will undoubtedly appeal to Sullivan.
Galtier is clearly a very competent coach, but I really feel like we need a younger manager who has fresher, more innovative ideas.
Graham Potter is the perfect man for the job at West Ham, let’s just hope that the board manage to agree terms with the 49-year-old.
