Bayern Munich played their first game of the year against RB Salzburg in a friendly face-off, here’s our awards for the game!
Jersey Swap: John Mellberg
The young Swedish footballer may not have been in the starting eleven this game, but he proved his skill after being subbed on. The defender put in a good shift, despite having conceded three goals in the half he was playing. His stats reflect the efforts he put in tonight, with multiple clearances, tackles, blocked shots and interceptions.
Der Kaiser: Raphaël Guerreiro
Guerreiro is finding his form again after the break, and it is wonderful to see. The Portuguese defender recorded two assists in a six-goal thriller, which is not an easy feat to accomplish from his position. A shout out goes to Alphonso Davies and Eric Dier, both of whom put in great efforts.
Fußballgott: Joshua Kimmich
The German midfield maestro decided that he wanted to start 2025 off the best way possible. Kimmich took it upon himself to not only provide an assist but also score a goal. Bayern had fun tonight, and Kimmich wanted every bit of it.
Der Bomber: Thomas Müller
It feels good to put his name on the awards list. The Bayern legend had a very good game tonight, or rather a very good half (quite regrettable, he should have played the full 90). With a goal in his pocket, Müller put in a great shift in the first 45 minutes, only being taken off to give some playing time to the youngsters.
Meister of the Match: Michael Olise
Surprise, surprise. The Frenchman gets this award yet again. Olise has been simply sensational this season, and the new year new me trend has not gotten to him. He seemed almost relaxed about the goals he scored, as if it were an everyday occurrence, and at this point that is exactly what it’s shaping up to be. Recording a brace, Olise should definitely be happy tonight.
