Manchester City 4-1 West Ham
Areola:6 Nothing he could do with the deflected opener. Save a shot from Silva with his legs after 30 mins. Made a Hollywood save from Lewis which he probably could have caught. Didn’t do too much wrong.
Coufal:4 Unlucky own goal after nine minutes which was completely against the run of play. Turned inside out by Savinho who supplied Haaland for City’s second.
Todibo:6 Headed clearance eventually led to the first goal of the game but not hugely busy in the first half. Stopped Savinho scoring the third with an improvised backheel block.
Kilman:5 Too easily lost by Haaland who had an uncontested header at the back post for the home teams second just before half time. Outpaced for Haaland’s second.
Wan Bissaka:6 Great exchange of passes with Paqueta created a good Hammers attack. West Ham’s best left back and right back.
Alvarez:5 Possible confusion or misunderstanding saw Alvarez pull out of a header in the build-up to Manchester City’s early goal. Lost out on a couple of occasions which prompted opposition attacks. Decent ball forward helped create Fullkrug’s goal.
Soucek:7 Shot well wide from 10 yards following a good set-up by Kudus. One good interception and a couple of clumsy moments in midfield early on. Almost scored following a clever through ball from Paqueta. Lovely assist for Fullkrug. Fully committed performance from the man with the armband.
Paqueta:7 Released Kudus early in the game with a first time pass. Clearly Paqueta was massively up for this game and started the match with real intensity. Where has this version of the Paq-man been this season? Shot just wide after 85 mins.
Kudus:5 Back in his preferred position on the right of midfield. Two early attacks were a touch selfish when others were in good positions. Gifted Guardiola’s team their fourth as the Hammers looked to play out from defence.
Summerville:6 Looked incredibly sharp and seemed to enjoy teeming up with Wan Bissaka. Possibly West Ham’s best player in the first half. Not hugely involved in the second period until Fullkrug set him up but the Dutchman hit his effort well over.
Fullkrug:8 Won an early header from a Kilman long ball which set up a Hammers attack then produced a good flick shortly after. Showed some good awareness and always tried to link well with team mates. Scored after 70 mins following a good left footed cross from Soucek (yes you did read that correctly).
Substitutes
Mavropanos:5 Introduced for Todibo on 52 mins with a possible injury. Immediately called into action but backed off and allowed City to drive forward and get their 3rd.
Guilherme: 71 min replacement for Kudus.
Ings: 86th min sub for Alvarez
