Paris Saint-Germain is planning a defensive revamp as the club grapples with issues at the back. With Milan Škriniar potentially on his way out and Presnel Kimpembe still working to regain full fitness, PSG is actively looking for reinforcements.
As Marquinhos enters his 30s, the club may seek younger talent to refresh their defense. In 2024, PSG made strides by signing promising center-backs Lucas Beraldo and Willian Pacho.
However, the club isn’t finished yet and is reportedly eyeing new defensive targets. Last summer, PSG made a late move for Tomás Araújo, but the deal ultimately fell through.
According to Foot Mercato, PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos has recently met with representatives of RC Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov. While talks have started, PSG has yet to make a formal offer.
Lens have reportedly placed a €15 million to €20 million price tag on Khusanov in this transfer window, with multiple Premier League clubs showing interest in the Uzbekistan international.
What’s the latest on Abdukodir Khusanov?
The Daily Express reports that Manchester City are set to be the first of the Premier League’s top clubs to make a move in this month’s transfer window, with one of their main targets, Khusanov, now free to leave Lens.

According to CaughtOffside on Saturday, Manchester City have expressed interest in Khusanov and are set to hold further talks about a potential transfer. The Premier League champions are considering an initial €10 million offer as Pep Guardiola aims to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2025 season.
Other clubs such as Marseille, PSG, and Newcastle United are also keeping an eye on the 20-year-old, with Newcastle especially eager to bring him to St James’ Park in January to help with their Champions League push. It’s also reported that Khusanov is open to the move.
Despite this, Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently leading the race for the midfielder. The club has already started negotiations with Lens and is reportedly willing to invest heavily to secure the Ligue 1 talent as manager Vitor Pereira looks to bolster his defense.
