West Ham United have so much deadwood that still needs to be cleared out of the club.
David Moyes oversaw a fantastic four-and-a-half year period at West Ham.
However, it must be said that the way he built the squad over this final couple of years in charge at the London Stadium was criminal.
Moyes failed to sufficiently strengthen his ranks in the January transfer window last year, and aside from Mohammed Kudus, his signings in the summer of 2023 failed to deliver as well.
Julen Lopetegui‘s recruitment at the London Stadium hasn’t been any better, and now the Spaniard is close to being sacked by all accounts.
Interestingly, Moyes was in the stands at the The Etihad on Saturday watching on as we lost 4-1 to Manchester City.
However, the Scot will not be returning to the London Stadium for a third spell, I’m almost certain of that.
In my opinion, it will actually take another two transfer windows as a bare minimum to address the mess that the Scot left behind.
One of his stranger signings could be set to leave the Hammers in the January window.
David Moyes signing set for West Ham exit
Moyes made a lot of strong signings for the Hammers during his second spell in charge of the club.
However, there were a fair few mistakes from the Scot as well.
Moyes never got the striker position sorted during his time at the London Stadium, but one of his most bizarre signings was a centre-back.
Luizao still hasn’t been seen in a senior match for West Ham.
And the young Brazilian centre-back’s two-year spell with the Hammers could be set to come to an end imminently.
Luizao joined the Hammers on a free transfer from Sao Paulo way back in January 2023.
When he arrived at the London Stadium, he has a big reputation as one of the most highly talented young defenders in Brazil.
However, two years down the line and he is still ye to make a senior appearance for West Ham.
At 22, Luizao is now reaching an age where he needs to be playing regular football, and he quite simply won’t get that at the London Stadium.
The race for his signature seems like it will be a fierce one.
Nine clubs want to sign Luizao from West Ham
UOL claim that the Hammers are in talks with Atlético Mineiro about Luizao joining them this month, and the 22-year-old is keen to leave the London Stadium.
However, eight more clubs are keen on signing the Brazilian centre-back.
Corinthians want the West Ham defender as well according to O Tempo.
Meanwhile, Revista Colorada claim that Internacional are chasing his signature.
Brazilian trio Gremio, Bahia and Sao Paulo are also closely monitoring Luizao’s situation according to Bolavip.
UOL have also claimed that Botafogo, Cruzeiro and Palmeiras are in for the former Sao Paulo man too.
So that’s a grand total of nine clubs – all Brazilian – trying to sign Luizao from West Ham this summer.
The Hammers would be crazy not to let him go, even if it’s for a nominal fee or a long-term loan deal.
The 22-year-old centre-back is clearly not good enough to play Premier League football – he would have been given an outings by either Lopetegui or Moyes if he was.
