West Ham were rocked by news captain and talisman Jarrod Bowen fractured his foot in the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Jarrod Bowen has been one of the few highlights of a dismal campaign for West Ham.
The fact the near ever-present broke his foot in the last game of 2024 summed up a dreadful year for the club.
Bowen tried to play on for 30 minutes with a broken foot against Liverpool.
That sums up the much-loved Hammers hero.
It was reported that West Ham will have to make do without Bowen for at least two months.
It’s looking highly likely that Bowen will have a new manager by the time he returns.
The former Hull City man makes West Ham tick.
Without Bowen, the Irons lost 4-1 at Man City – a game where the hosts were there for the taking and West Ham wasted a number of excellent chances to take the lead.
Having also lost Michail Antonio to a fractured thigh bone in that horrific car crash, West Ham are looking to sign a striker in the January transfer window.
Dyer shares Bowen’s expected West Ham return date
Julen Lopetegui bizarrely claimed Bowen might only be out a few days when it emerged he had broken his foot.
The Hammers star’s fiance Dani Dyer has since shared a picture of Bowen with his foot in a protective boot and leg raised on two giant bean bags.
West Ham fans have been waiting for any updates on the timeframe of Bowen’s recovery.
Now they have one.
Because Dani Dyer has shared the expected Bowen return date as the West Ham captain is seen back at training.
Bowen took to his Instagram Stories to post a video of himself on an anti-gravity treadmill at Rush Green.
He captioned the video simply with a sand-timer.
Now speaking in the latest episode of the podcast she does with her West Ham fanatic dad Danny, Bowen’s wife-to-be Dyer has revealed his mood and comeback date.
Dyer has also claimed they initially thought Bowen could be out for the rest of the season.
Star trains ahead of ‘early February’ comeback
“We thought it was going to be a lot worse,” Dani said on the January 6th episode of Live and Let Dyers.
“With the injury he’s had it could have been six months out, so we’re trying to be positive.
“I think he’s going to be back in February.
“He’s down because he loves to play.
“But listen we’ve got to be positive, it could’ve been a lot worse than what it was.
“He’s just got to rest, he’s got to have that boot on because he can’t put any weight on the foot he’s on crutches.
“He has his crutches, he has his boot and a lot of PlayStation.
Dyer: Bowen will be back stronger
“We’ve got walkie talkies now. Because he’s got a games room – the games room to the kitchen I’m like ‘I’m not going to keep running in there’ so he just walkie talkies me and says ‘Can I have a cup of tea’.
“He’ll be fine, do you know what it is with Jarrod he’s not really one to sit and dwell. He’s very much like ‘It is what it is, it’s one of those things but I know I’ll be back’.
“He’d like to be back in February – the beginning of February.
“He’ll be back stronger.”
That means Bowen is targeting being back possibly for the Chelsea game on February 3rd or the Brentford home game on February 15th.
That would equate to around five-six weeks out in total if it does prove to be the case.
Here’s hoping for that best case scenario because goodness knows West Ham need him.
And if there is a change of manager, the owners and fans will want to see how the team looks with under them with their best player involved for as much of the rest of the season as possible.
