PSG defender Milan Skriniar set to decide his future amid Tottenham interest
Tottenham Hotspur have already made one signing in the January transfer window in the form of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, and more fresh faces are required to follow.
One area the North Londoners must address is the defence. Indeed, Ange Postecoglou has a defensive crisis on his hands with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie all currently on the sidelines. Radu Dragusin was substituted at half-time in the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United due to fitness issue last week, which saw Djed Spence and Archie Gray finish the game at centre-back.
Tottenham have shown an interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain defender Milan Skriniar but could face competition from Premier League rivals Aston Villa. Both the Premier League clubs have now taken a step forward to sign the centre-back, who is ready to leave Paris Saint-Germain now.
-> Tottenham emerge as practical destination for PSG defensive star
According to a report from French outlet L’Equipe, the Slovakian international’s future at Parc des Princes will be decided by the end of the week, with the defender asked to choose his preferred destination. Turkish giants Galatasaray are leading the race for the services of Milan Skriniar, but his hefty wages could prove to be a stumbling block.
As a result, the aforementioned report adds that Tottenham and Aston Villa have ‘positioned themselves’ to sign the 29-year-old, who would be very keen to move to the Premier League from Ligue 1.
Spurs are in dire need of defensive reinforcements and could do well with a highly experienced defender in Skriniar. The Slovak made his name in Italy with Inter Milan, where he racked up 246 appearances and won five trophies before moving to PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. He also enjoyed a strong season with Sampdoria that led to his move to Inter back in 2017.
-> Transfer blow for Tottenham as centre-back target is Galatasaray bound
A vocal leader and fantastic organiser with a strong mix of technical skills and physical attributes, Skriniar would immediately take Tottenham’s defence to the next level. His winning mentality and volumes of experience could make a huge difference to the dressing room at White Hart Lane.

However, like Galatasaray, the PSG man’s wages could make a deal complicated for Ange Postecoglou’s club, and with Villa competing in the Champions League this season, luring him to North London will be difficult this month.
