Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Tom Bischof is, at this point, well reported. Many reports have not only confirmed the Bavarians’ interest but have also suggested that the German wunderkind has not quite reached the level of Bayern Munich and would be sent on loan once the potential signing has been made for Bischof to reach the required level. However, via @iMiaSanMia, this expectation may be completely wide of the mark:
Bayern’s interest in Tom Bischof is well documented. If he accepts the offer, Bayern are not planning to loan Bischof out immediately, but their plan is to keep him in the squad next season. The 19-year old would take Leon Goretzka’s place in the team, whom Bayern are prepared to let go of. Bischof would be the 4th midfielder in the squad after Kimmich, Pavlović and Palhinha.
Signing a player only to claim is not at the required level and then loaning him out certainly does sound like a strange move, though it has worked once already for Bayern as Serge Gnabry took a similar route from Arsenal FC to Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim themselves.
Interestingly, it seems as if the creative midfielder is already being excluded from Hoffenheim’s plans, as Die Kraichgauer’s warm up friendly for the Bundesliga against Augsburg saw Bischof excluded from the match with no mention of an injury. In fact, via tsg-hoffenheim.de, 25 players participated in the match but Bischof was nowhere to be seen, nor ruled out with an injury. It seems that a decision for the highly sought after German talent is nearing.
