Bayern Munich’s Scottish midfielder Samantha Kerr is heading to the Women’s Super League in search of more playing time.
The 25-year-old has found regular time on the pitch hard to come by under Alexander Straus in a Bayern midfield that usually features the pairing of Georgia Stanway and Sarah Zadrazil. Julia Zigiotti Olme has also earned a handful of starts recently.
The move, a loan to Liverpool FC for the second half of the season, was confirmed in a short release by the club’s website, FCBayern.com.
“We decided together with Sam that it would be important for her further development to gain more match practice,” Bayern women’s sporting director Bianca Rech is quoted as saying. “In Liverpool FC we have found a club that is a perfect fit for Sam culturally and linguistically.”
Liverpool currently sit in the bottom half of the WSL. The Reds could use the reinforcements, and Kerr will be hoping she can seize the most of her new opportunity.
