Everton manager Sean Dyche was sacked on Wednesday afternoon and it didn’t take long for reactions to the news to start flooding in
Former Everton forward Demarai Gray has ‘liked’ a post announcing Sean Dyche’s sacking at Goodison Park. The 53-year-old left his post at the Blues hours before their FA Cup third round tie against Peterborough United and leaving them one-point clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
The Al-Ettifaq forward left Merseyside at the end of the summer transfer window in 2023 following three years at Everton. It was reported that the Jamaican departed for a fee in the region of £8million on a four-year deal.
Gray’s time as an Everton player came to messy conclusion after a social media post prompted a response from Dyche which suggested that 28-year-old didn’t want to train.

The attacker was one of 15,000 accounts that liked an Instagram post from Everton which read: “Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect.
“Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the club. The process to appoint a new Manager is underway and an update will be provided in due course.
“Under-18s head coach Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.”
Following Dyche’s dismissal, former manager David Moyes has been strongly linked with a return to Goodison Park after leaving in 2015 to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho was also touted, following his time with The Friedkin Group at AS Roma, as well as former AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca – who was sacked by the Italian side at the end of December 2024.
