West Ham United could be dealt a major blow by Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window it seems.
Graham Potter has just been appointed as the new West Ham head coach, and he desperately needs to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium in the January transfer window, as does Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
Potter has funds to spend at West Ham in January, and that’s obviously great news for us.
The 49-year-old’s main priority should be to add a proven striker to his ranks at the London Stadium.
One of our alleged targets seems an extremely ambitious one to me, but it will be possible to get a deal done.
However, Tottenham apparently could stop us in our tracks.
Tottenham strike January window hammer blow to West Ham
The Hammers are on the verge of a bright and exciting new era now with Graham Potter at the helm.
However, we have been dealt some bad news today.
It seems like our fierce rivals Spurs could beat us to a big transfer deal.
According to a report from Tutto Juve journalist Mirko Di Natale, Tottenham are closing in on a deal to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain.
Spurs are hoping to conclude a deal to sign the 26-year-old striker on loan until the end of the season, with an option to sign him permanently for £50 million in the summer.
That’s obviously terrible news for West Ham, as it kills any faint hopes we had of signing the France international in the January window.
The Hammers are said to be harbouring ambitious hopes of bringing Kolo Muani to the London Stadium in January.
And trust me, he would be a sensational signing for us.
Standing at 6ft 2in tall, the Frenchman is an absolute powerhouse in the air.
He is very strong at holding up the ball with his back to goal, but he can also run in behind the opposition’s defence with his really impressive pace.
Kolo Muani is a very good finisher on the most part, but he needs to play for a club where he’s the main man, if he is to fulfil his outstanding potential.
Whilst thoughts of signing him may have been ambitious, the opportunity to play in the Premier League and living in London are both huge pulls.
So the Hammers signing Kolo Muani wasn’t totally out of the question.
Now though, Tottenham seem to be in the driving seat to acquire the France international’s signature ahead of West Ham in the January transfer window.
And that’s terrible news for the Hammers as far as I’m concerned.
