Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham has emerged as a target for Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur secured their first signing of the winter transfer window in the form of Antonin Kinsky, and the young goalkeeper made his debut as well against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
Spurs’ defensive unit have been hit extremely hard by injuries this season, with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie currently on the sidelines. This has led to young midfielder Archie Gray having to fill in at centre-back alongside Radu Dragusin in recent weeks. Thus, a centre-back appears to be at the top of the agenda after Kinsky’s arrival.
The North London outfit are also looking to improve their midfield unit, despite having sufficient options at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal. According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are big admirers of Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham. However, Sunderland are determined to keep hold of the youngster and have slapped a minimum of £20million on his head.

Having joined Sunderland from Birmingham City in the summer of 2023, Jobe Bellingham has established himself as a crucial player in the middle of the park. After bagging seven goals in 47 appearances in his first season for the Black Cats, he has shone this campaign with four goals and three assists in 23 Championship appearances.
Spurs currently may be well-stocked as far as their midfield unit is concerned but they must always keep an eye for the future. Both James Maddison and Yves Bissouma are 28 years old, with the latter’s contract expiring in the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt), while Rodrigo Bentancur continues to be unreliable due to his injury problems and freakish incidents.
Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall arrived at N17 in the summer and have slowly become vital cogs in Ange Postecoglou’s side. Both 18, they are the future of Spurs’ midfield. Credit to the Hotspur Way chiefs for identifying the two gems and bringing them in for decent fees. However, they should not stop here and must try getting in Bellingham from Sunderland.

A box-to-box midfielder blessed with physicality, engine and technical skills, Bellingham would potentially be another acquisition that enhances Tottenham’s pool of young talent. The Stourbridge-born starlet can join Gray, Bergvall and Pape Matar Sarr and become a part of an exciting midfield set-up at Spurs. The Englishman can realize his true potential under Big Ange and compete with the big boys in the Premier League as well.
