Tottenham Hotspur have endured a difficult start to the season, and the supporters at White Hart Lane have witnessed a series of highs and lows across the campaign, with Ange Postecoglou’s side scoring aplenty but with defensive fragilities costing the Lilywhites on multiple occasions, with injuries at the back bringing a lot of crisis-like feeling at Hotspur Way, with Ange Postecoglou facing a lack of options, and Levy is all set to hand the Australian a potent defender as the North Londoners continue to be linked with Milan Skriniar.
The Lilywhires starting duo have been a consistent presence in the treatment room with Cristian Romero sidelined after his injury against Chelsea, while Micky van de Ven’s hamstring problem has compounded over time.
Castles speaks about a possible Lilywhite switch
And Tottenham are looking to bring in Milan Skriniar from PSG. According to sources, Daniel Levy has entered talks to bring the Slovakian defender to England, with his current employers, PSG, open to offers for a possible move.
Duncan Castles speaking about the Lilywhites interest in the defender on The Transfers Podcast, said:
“They’re also been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain about taking Milan Skriniar, who’s another notable player available in this window. PSG will let him go. They’ve allowed him to talk to other clubs. Again, not a favourite of Enrique’s.
“They have interest in him from Serie A clubs, and they are basically going to wait and see who gives them the best offer by the end of the window. So that is an option for Tottenham to get someone into their defence, who’s actually a centre back in the centre of their defence.”
Tottenham need Skriniar or someone like him
Skriniar has the capacity to be a leader figure at the back, with the 29-year-old having done so for years at the highest level at Inter Milan, and his experience, complemented by his ability to read the game and willingness to put his body on the line for the ball, would come in much handy, especially considering how Spurs are playing with makeshift solutions like Archie Gray and Djed Spence at the back.
He was linked with a move to White Hart Lane when Conte was at White Hart Lane, though the transfer never went through, and now PSG is ready to let him walk away. It’s the perfect time for Tottenham to bring Skriniar to Hotspur Way.
