Tottenham have revived their interest in Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes
Tottenham Hotspur are actively pursuing Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani, as Ange Postecoglou looks to fortify his attacking unit.
After signing young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague last week, the Lilywhites have shifted their focus toward bringing in Kolo Muani. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, alongside director of football Johan Lange, flew to Paris earlier this week to try and negotiate a deal to sign the France international. Over the last two days, the club chiefs have been pushing really hard to agree personal terms with him.
In addition to Kolo Muani, however, Tottenham have been linked with a few midfielders of late. And now it appears as if they have revived their interest in one previous target. According to reliable journalist Rudy Galetti, Spurs are among a host of Premier League clubs to have enquired about Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes.

The Lilywhites were heavily linked with a move for Joao Gomes last summer after an impressive first full Premier League season. The central midfielder stunned Ange Postecoglou’s side last campaign, scoring a brace in the 2-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in February 2024. After selling Max Kilman and Pedro Neto, Wolves were reluctant to let go of the Brazilian international.
Gomes, like most of his Wolves teammates, have not enjoyed a great 2024/25 campaign thus far. The Black Country outfit are just a place above the relegation zone and have hired a new manager Vitor Pereira to help them stay in the top flight.
The aforementioned report adds Wolves are not considering selling the 23-year-old in this transfer window, with only a ‘huge offer’ likely to change their mind, as the South American is considered a key player.

Not to forget, Gomes is under contract at Molineux until June 2028 with the option of a further 12 months (Transfermarkt), so it is certain Tottenham have to splash the cash in order to tempt Wolves into selling one of their prized assets midway through the campaign. But he would be worth it, as evidenced by his performances in a Wolves shirt ever since arriving at the club in 2023.

With his passing, reading of the game, ball-winning skills and ability to chip in with crucial goals, Gomes would be a perfect fit in Big Ange’s system at Tottenham. The Brazilian would be an instant upgrade on Yves Bissouma, bringing a sense of calm and control to Spurs’ midfield unit. Big Ange could also mould Gomes into a pure No.6 with coaching and guidance, even though he can operate as a lone defensive midfielder.
All in all, the North Londoners have to table a sizeable bid to persuade Wolves to consider selling Gomes now.
