Rodrigo Bentancur will miss at least a couple of weeks’ action after being concussed vs Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspur produced a convincing display to beat Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at home on Wednesday evening. They will now carry a slender advantage into the second leg of the tie at Anfield at the start of February.
However, the shine of the victory was taken away by a nasty injury to Rodrigo Bentancur. The midfielder seemed to fall to the floor after knocking his head during a Spurs corner and was immediately taken off the pitch. After the game, a statement from the club confirmed that the Uruguayan international was conscious and talking in the hospital, bringing a sense of relief to the White Hart Lane faithful and beyond.
Rodrigo Bentancur also posted a reassuring message for his fans and well-wishers on his Instagram account, whilst congratulating the team on the victory over Liverpool. Now, Ange Postecoglou has dropped the latest update on his star midfielder.

Facing the media on Friday afternoon ahead of Spurs’ FA Cup third-round away clash against National League side Tamworth FC, the Tottenham boss revealed that Bentancur is okay and did suffer a concussion.
“I’ll start with Rodrigo, mostly positive news, he obviously went to hospital after the game. He was concussed and they did every check needed to do and I understand he’s gone home now. So that’s real positive news for us because it was a bit of a distressing situation to deal with for everyone,” Postecoglou was quoted by Football London.
“I think the players, Pedro did a great job initially of notifying the medical team, he did a great job. Now it’s just about recovery for him. There are set protocols in place but aside from those set protocols, we’ll make sure we give him as much time as he needs to get back.”
Bentancur is set to be out for a couple of weeks after being concussed in midweek, with proper examinations and protocols set to be followed in the meantime. He remains in the best possible hands following what was a freak injury.

As per a report from The Sun, Bentancur will be ‘kept away’ from Hotspur Way over the coming days and will continue resting at home. The club’s medical staff will regularly make trips to the 27-year-old’s residence to make checks on him and he will not be allowed back to training until they give the green signal.
