Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s options in the middle of the park, and Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi is one of the names that fans are dreaming of at White Hart Lane, given rumours surrounding a probable move to N17.
However, the Italian giants are said to be adamant about not selling the maestro in the ongoing winter window unless the Lilywhites are prepared to shell out a mammoth €50 million (£41.6 million).
Not possible but possible…
Frattesi has established himself as a box-to-box threat at San Siro; however, the game time coming his way has been limited under Simone Inzaghi this season, and looking to add more playing time to his belt, the Italian may be planning to move to another team. Though that being said, he hasnt formally asked to be sold and Inter will defenitely not be willing to part with the former Sassuolo midfielder given they stand just four points off the top of Serie A with two games less played then Napoli.
And journalist Fabrizio Biasin suggested how he thinks any possible move to Tottenham is not possible in the ongoing window unless a big offer were to arrive from Tottenham that could change Inter’s stance. Speaking to Radio Sportiva (as relayed by L’Interista), he said:
“Inter themselves have no intention of moving the boy, certainly not in January unless an admirer brings in €50m. I would rule out the possibility that he could leave unless he is the one to tell the management that he no longer wants to stay at Inter. So far he hasn’t done so.
“I can understand that in the future he will want to look for more space elsewhere; I don’t think for January. I read about Tottenham’s interest, but the management says no; they won’t move in January. Then it is always a question of money; with €50m, anything can happen.”
Frattesi will add different dynamics to Spurs roster
Bringing in Frattesi will definitely be an upgrade to Tottenham’s current central midfield options, already consisting of Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, and Rodrigo Bentancur, with the Italian bringing more creative dynamism into the roster.
But it would cost Tottenham an eye-watering €50 million in January, and that’s an expense that may well prove beyond the wage splashing to bring him to White Hart Lane.
