West Ham United appointed Graham Potter as our new head coach on Thursday.
And now the new Hammers gaffer has to clean up the mess that Julen Lopetegui left behind.
Graham Potter has made a big impact at West Ham already, and that was obvious to see with our first-half performance against Aston Villa on Friday night.
However, the 49-year-old has to strengthen his ranks at the London Stadium, and he has admitted himself that he would like to do exactly that.
The Hammers need to strengthen in pretty much every single department in the January transfer window.
However, our need for a centre-forward with blistering pace is surely more urgent than anything else.
And West Ham seemingly have a great chance to address our centre-forward deficiencies.
Graham Potter offered £25m striker as his first West Ham signing
With Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen both and now Niclas Fullkrug all out with long-term injuries, the addition of a new striker should be a priority for the Hammers.
We simply cannot rely on Danny Ings to play regular games for us.
The perfect striker is out there waiting for the Hammers, and he’s available for an unbelievable bargain fee.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Graham Potter has been offered the chance to make Lille hitman Jonathan David his first signing.
And he’s available for just £25 million by all accounts.
What an incredible signing the 24-year-old striker would be for the Hammers.
He possesses blistering pace, has terrific movement and is an elite finisher when presented with a goalscoring opportunity.
David has bagged an impressive 17 goals and five assists in 28 games for Lille so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Signing him for £25 million should be an absolute no-brainer for the Hammers this winter.
One point worth noting though – he’ll be out of contract with Lille in the summer, so will be available on a free transfer then.
Signing him now for £25 million would be very unlike David Sullivan, but it might be a move that’s necessary, as there will be a lot more competition for his signature in five month’s time.
Graham Potter bringing Jonathan David to West Ham in the January window would be a sensational move for the club.
