The Arsenal academy have had another game postponed, with the Premier League 2 fixture against Norwich City now set to be played in March.
The Arsenal academy were set to play a couple of matches over the last few days, with the u18s scheduled to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and the u21s to play Norwich City on Monday.
The u18 game was postponed on the day, with poor weather conditions leading to the postponement.
The cold weather around London over the last week has led to plenty of frozen pitches, and Adam Birchall’s team were just one of many victims of that.
The u21 game has also been called off, with Norwich confirming that it’s been rescheduled. Norwich didn’t give an official reason for the decision, but presumably the weather conditions played a part once again.
The match will now take place on Monday, March 31st at Carrow Road, with a kick-off time of 7pm.
The upshot is that neither the u18s nor the u21s will have played a single competitive fixture for over a month by the time their next games come around.
The academy teams always take some time off over the winter, but they’ve ended up with more of a break than they would’ve expected.
The Arsenal u21s did at least manage to schedule in a friendly match against Marseille’s academy earlier this month, winning 5-2, so they’re not completely out of practice. But the players are probably itching for the next competitive game to come around.
Mehmet Ali’s side are set to face Fulham away from home on Saturday, January 18th at 12:00 GMT.
