Middlesbrough have received an offer worth up to £20million for striker Emmanuel Latte Lath from MLS side Atlanta United.
The bid includes add ons and would potentially be a new record fee for the MLS.
Leeds United, Ipswich Town and West Ham have all shown interest in Latte Lath but it is Atlanta who have made the first move with their substantial offer.
Boro have yet to accept and recognise the importance of Latte Lath’s goals in their bid for promotion.
The 26-year old joined Boro from Italian side Atalanta and has scored ten goals in 26 games this season.
The Ivory Coast international is open to moving to the United States but had been expected to make a move to a Premier League side this summer.

Ipswich Town failed with a bid to sign Latte in the summer while West Ham want a striker amid injuries to Niclas Fullkrug, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio.
Graham Potter confirmed £27million summer signing striker Fullkrug, who missed three months earlier in the season with an Achilles problem, looks to have suffered another serious injury following Friday’s FA Cup loss to Aston Villa.
‘It’s quite a severe hamstring when you pull up like that, so that’s a concern for us,’ added Potter. ‘We need to assess him. Crysencio (Summerville) pulled up a little bit, we didn’t think it was worth the risk to carry on.’
The Hammers boss also admitted losing two key forwards to injury might mean the club have to dip into the transfer market this month but would not be drawn on rumours linking the club with a move for out-of-favour Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
‘We have to see the extent of the injuries and see how long it will take for guys to come back,’ said Potter. ‘We don’t know the extent. If those are out it’s something we have to look at.
‘I used to say this 20-odd months ago, I only comment on players who are West Ham players. Sometimes things written in the papers aren’t always true and you can get yourself in knots confirming and denying everything. It’s about the group collectively doing well. There’s no lack of talent at this club.’
Meanwhile, Leeds are due to hold a recruitment meeting on Monday to evaluate strikers but a £20m rival bid may be beyond them this window despite their desire to earn promotion this year.
