Tottenham Hotspur’s centre back duo Cristian Romero and van de Ven could be following the long line of players to leave the North Londoners for Real Madrid, with Los Blancos interested in taking the duo to La Liga in the upcoming summer winter, with both of them having attracted interest from Los Blancos, who look to strengthen their backline.
Romero and Van de Ven are linked with Tottenham exit
Real Madrid are impressed with van de Ven, and TyC Sports previously reported Romero had attracted interest from several top clubs, including PSG and Manchester United (with Madrid), in the last summer’s transfer window. And former Tottenham scout Bryan King insists that Daniel Levy will be open to a deal given a suitable offer is made but indicated that the Lilywhites will be in no hurry to make a move.
He also went on to add that his former employers would place high valuations on the pair, but financial considerations may depend on how Tottenham decides to tackle the situation.
In an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:
“I think Real Madrid are constantly looking at Romero and van de Ven. They don’t make many mistakes when it comes to the transfer market. If you’re looking at top defenders, then those two would certainly come into that bracket.
“When they’re both fit and playing, they’re as good as anything there is anywhere in Europe. Therefore, the pair of them would cost a considerable amount of money. Tottenham couldn’t afford to sell them both. However, money talks and it has always talked at Tottenham.
“As a result, if the fee is right, Tottenham will not stand in the way of Romero and van de Ven leaving.”
And you know Levy, right?
It’s hard to think that any player wouldn’t fancy the opportunity to join Real Madrid given how they can compete and win silverware on a consistent basis. However, Tottenham Supporters would have a lot to express if we lose two of our key defensive assets. The duo’s partnership is among the best in the English top tier, and if sold, they would be difficult to replace and leave the team in a vulnerable position (as we have seen for the majority of the ongoing season).

That being said, we know that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has a business-minded approach to things in the transfer market, and the North Londoners would definitely be open to negotiations if Real Madrid tables a reasonable figure, despite the risk of backlash from the Lilywhites faithful.
