During his introductory press conference yesterday, new Everton manager David Moyes took the opportunity to provide a squad update ahead of tomorrow’s game at home against Aston Villa.
Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed the Peterborough game last week with an ankle injury, but should return tomorrow but Dwight McNeil remains out.
“Dominic has trained today [Monday], so we think he should be okay. Dwight is not [available]. He’s got a little bit of an ongoing knee issue, as far as I know.”
Club captain Seamus Coleman should be available for the game after planning on being on the substitute’s bench for the FA Cup game last Thursday, but instead assisted Leighton Baines on the touchline following the sacking of Sean Dyche.
There is still some concern for on-loan striker Armando Broja who left the win over Peterborough with what looked like a serious lower leg injury.
“He is going for another scan. I think there’s a little bit of mixed [feeling] – one moment we’re not thinking it’s not too bad, so that’s why we’re doubling up [with the scans]. We’re just waiting on a bit of swelling to go down before he goes for a scan and hopefully we’ll get a better idea in the next few days.”
Midfielder James Garner has also returned to training at Finch Farm on his way back from a back issue that has seen him out since early October.
Tim Iroegbunam (foot) and Youssef Chermiti (thigh) are the only other players who are still out for the Blues.
