The Eagles put in a very efficient away performance to take all three points from the struggling Foxes thanks to two very good second half goals which ended the game as a contest.

TEB VERDICT
Back-to-back victories after two of three games in a week will be very pleasing for Oliver Glasner and his management team. It is unlikely to be at a cost though as Jefferson Lerma once again left the pitch early due to injury in a position that we are already a little light on.
Regardless, this was a very professional performance from Palace after a poor first half which could well have seen them behind but for a bit of luck shining on them. It looked a little lacklustre and one paced but that changed after the break with two good goals from Mateta and Guehi.
As Glasner says in his post-match comments, there will be much to learn from that first half and he knows that they have got away with it a little but that was backed up with a good second half which was enough to beat a team very fragile in confidence and on a losing run.
A point or three from West Ham at the weekend will round off a very positive week, but with the disappointing loss of Trevoh Chalobah making the squad weaker, here’s hoping that the club back the manager and the players and get the additions through the door that are needed before the transfer window closes.
POST GAME QUOTES
OLIVER GLASNER
“We are pleased with the three points and the clean sheet. We have to be critical of our performance in the first half. It was a little bit louder in the dressing room and the players showed a good reaction. We have to improve our performance.
We were more aggressive. I told the players and showed them clips about tactical adjustments. We were just jogging about the pitch and this is what we showed them. We did it better in the second half but still not our top level. We can’t be happy with the performance in the first half.
We had the worst start in the Premier League history of Crystal Palace and now it’s the opposite. We are always humble. We are compact in our shape most of the time but we need to improve our performance and reduce our easy mistakes.”
RUUD VAN NISTELROOY
“The difference between the first and second half was something I didn’t see coming and it was big. It was a very good and energetic first half and the second half was very poor. They had a bit of momentum out of the dressing room. That first goal was in and I thought there that the confidence dropped a bit.
We have to look at what we created in the first half. We have to grab the momentum ourselves with the goal and build on that. We have to keep going. We couldn’t get the chances in the second half and it was really difficult at 2-0.
If you look at what you create over a game, it’s enough to get a result and get points. It’s a big blow, we were looking to get a result and this is a big blow. We need to stick together and everyone is looking in the same direction. Six without a win is not good enough. You can’t keep talking about performances. We need to win and that needs to happen soon.”
