Bayern Munich got after it in Wednesday’s 5-0 Bundesliga win over TSG Hoffenheim — an energetic display that has Bavarian spirits soaring.
The win leaves Bayern solidly ahead of defending champions Bayer Leverkusen in this year’s Bundesliga title race and keeps the pressure on Xabi Alonso’s men. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany could not be prouder of his squad’s reaction.
“I’m happy with the performance and the mentality of the team,” Kompany relayed after the match in comments captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We defended aggressively and played a good game. We should keep it up. We’re showing in every game that we’re hungry and showing a reaction after last season. We have to keep going.”
After 11 straight Bundesliga wins, perhaps last season’s dethroning was just what Bayern needed to get their mojo back. Kompany’s men left no doubt on the day that they were going to score as many goals as possible…and it was a performance to build upon right as Champions League action returns.
