West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has been offered the chance to sign a Germany international in January it seems.
A new striker is needed at West Ham in the January transfer window, and David Sullivan must be well aware of that fact.
Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug and Jarrod Bowen are all currently out injured, and the latter is the only one of those three who is expected to return to action anytime soon.
If we don’t strengthen our centre-forward department before the transfer window closes, the second half of the season will be a real struggle.
Potter’s chances of success will hinge heavily on his ability to sign a top-class striker.
One centre-forward has just been offered to us, but he’s certainly not top-class.
David Sullivan responds as West Ham offered striker
The Hammers co-owner is well-known for his penchant for signing strikers.
However, this time he has seemingly turned down the offer of a centre-forward.
Mergim Berisha has been offered to the Hammers according to a report from Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Luckily, Sullivan has rejected the chance to bring the 26-year-old Hoffenheim striker to the London Stadium.
That’s great news for us because the two-capped Germany international isn’t great.
He has scored just one goal in 17 games for Hoffenheim this season (Transfermarkt).
He’s not bad as a target man, and is well-versed in holding up the ball. However, his goal record is appalling.
West Ham need to go all out to sign a top-class striker in the January window, and David Sullivan must back Graham Potter to the hilt in the market.
Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but it’s a good sign that we’ve rejected the chance to sign Mergim Berisha in my opinion.
