Identified as one on the shortlist for West Ham’s recruitment team to look at, Rodrigo Muniz at Fulham has struggled for game time as the perennial number two at the West London club behind first choice goal scorer Raul Jimenez. Widely accepted as a decent quality Premier League striker, West Ham were rumoured to be in the hunt for the 23 year old Brazilian frontman.
However it seems that Fulham Manager Marco Silva has other ideas and has killed off the speculation that he may be about to lose his number two. According to westlondonsport.com, Silva was pretty clear at his pre-weekend press session today- Thursday- when asked about Muniz:
“We are not open to listening to anything about Rodrigo. It’s better if no-one contacts us, because it will be a quick and easy answer from us. There’s no chance at all, even start to talk to clubs.”
Whilst West Ham are in desperate need of a new striker, Marco Silva will no doubt have in mind that his main man Jimenez is thirty four: West Ham fans know only too well the dangers of over-reliance on older strikers and Silva is staying prudent in his comments about the possibility of selling Muniz:
“He’s been here for four years and he’s going to be for the future,” Silva added. “He has much more years here and a bright future in front of him. He has all the conditions to be the number nine for this football club for many years.”
His words seem painfully clear to me. Rodrigo won’t be pulling on his Claret and Blue kit at London Stadium any time soon.
