New West Ham United head coach Graham Potter has been hugely impressed by two players in particular this season.
Graham Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui at West Ham eight days ago, and he has already made a huge impact at the London Stadium.
The Hammers head coach has overseen two much-improved performances, so he is clearly doing something right on the training ground.
The players seem to have warmed to Potter as well.
The dark cloud has lifted from the London Stadium, and it’s clear to see that genuine optimism is now emanating from everyone involved with the club.
Crucially, the players have obviously bought into Potter’s ideas, and the Hammers chief has praised two of them in particular for doing exactly that.
Graham Potter lauds two West Ham players
The 49-year-old addressed the media during his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
It’s a huge game against Crystal Palace that we face on Saturday, but the Hammers players will be relishing it now, rather than approaching it with trepidation.
And Potter raved about two West Ham players in particular.
Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez were the subject of Potter’s praise.
The Hammers boss said, “We tried to use Lucas as a No 9 and his responsibility for the team throughout was really good. I thought he (Edson Alvarez) was also really good and has really taken on board what we’re trying to do. He’s been really important for us.“
It’s great to see that two of our biggest signings over the past couple of years seem to be taking on more responsibility.
As much as I have criticised Paqueta and Alvarez this season, I fully expect to see big improvements from them with Potter now at the helm.
Graham Potter clearly has high hopes for the West Ham duo.
Now it will be down to both of them to produce the levels they’ve shown over the past two games on a consistent basis between now and the end of the season.
