Arsenal have reportedly added Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo to their list of attacking targets as they assess options to strengthen their frontline during the January transfer window.
Injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka have heightened the Gunners’ need for reinforcements, with Mikel Arteta confirming the club’s intention to act if the right opportunity arises.
Wissa, who has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, is attracting significant attention according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 28-year-old, who is valued at around €30m, became Brentford’s all-time leading Premier League scorer this week, with his tally now standing at 37 top-flight goals.
His ability to operate across the front three makes him an appealing option for Arsenal, particularly given the current versatility required in Arteta’s system.
€50m-rated Mbeumo, meanwhile, is another Brentford player on Arsenal’s radar.
The 25-year-old, under contract until 2026, has 13 goals and four assists this season and has already demonstrated his capability at the highest level with consistent performances in the Premier League.
Reports suggest Brentford may consider cashing in on Mbeumo if he declines to extend his current deal, which could align with Arsenal’s immediate needs.
Arteta’s interest in Wissa and Mbeumo comes amid competition from Nottingham Forest, where Nuno Espírito Santo has identified Wissa as a potential replacement for Taiwo Awoniyi, should the Nigerian striker leave during this window.
Forest are currently flying high in the Premier League, and Nuno has expressed caution about making unnecessary changes, though a forward remains a priority if Awoniyi departs.
Adding to the speculation, Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres has also been linked with Arsenal, though his €100m release clause makes a January move less likely compared to summer.
Gyökeres has netted an extraordinary 32 goals this season, but doubts linger over whether he can replicate such form outside Portugal.
Arsenal’s immediate needs suggest they may prioritise Mbeumo for his proven Premier League pedigree or Wissa for his versatility and scoring touch. Either player would provide a significant boost as the Gunners aim to maintain their momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
