Tottenham Hotspur are said to have been exploring a move to bring Chelsea academy graduate Fikayo Tomori to White Hart Lane, with Daniel Levy looking to patch the defensive frailties in Ange Postecoglou’s roster in the ongoing winter transfer window; however, Fabrizio Romano insists that the Italian giants Juventus may be in a better position than the North Londoners to sign AC Milan centre-back in the next ten or so days of this January window.
The Lilywhites have been without Cristian Romero and van de Ven at the heart of the defence at Hotspur Way, with Spurs having to play a makeshift solution in Archie Grey alongside Radu Drăgușin in the centre-back role. And they could be looking to take advantage of Tomori’s situation at San Siro.
Tomori would be ideal for Ange
The 27-year-old has been struggling for regular playing time in the ongoing campaign, and that has led to talks about his potential future with the Milan-based side, with reports suggesting that he would be open to a move back to the Premier League.
And moreover, Postecoglou’s system of high defensive lines and fluid transitions does suit the England international’s pace, strength, and tactical awareness as well as anyone, and any potential move right now will come at the perfect time given how the Australian head coach in charge at N17 needs to settle a few issues in the defensive department and bring a bit of security for the longer term.
However, Romano insists that Juventus are now planning a new approach for Tomori in the coming days, and Thiago Motta has made Tomori their prime defensive target for the window, and it is to be seen how that goes.
