Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in a new striker in the 2025 transfer intervals as they look to bring in a commendable backup to Dominic Solanke upfront, and the Lilywhites are reportedly eyeing a move for prolific Lille striker and Canadian international Jonathan David.
No winter plans for David
And given the fact that former Gent ace’s contract with his current employers comes to an end after the ongoing campaign, he would be available on a free transfer when the summer comes around, given how Lille are intent on keeping him until the end of the current season. And according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, a move this winter could be ruled out.
The highly regarded centre forward will be exploring his next destination in the summer, with there being no immediate plans to sign a pre-contract agreement.
Speaking about Jonathan David’s next steps, Seth said to GIVEMESPORT:
“There’s not been much noise from Tottenham with regard to Jonathan David. What my information is, about David himself, is that Lille won’t be doing any business with him in this transfer window.
“I think there’s an acceptance that he won’t be signing a new contract and he’ll leave for free in the summer. He might not even sign a pre-contract agreement with anyone. I think he just wants to assess all of his options in the summer.”
It’s over to Levy
While a January move for David looks like it is off the table at the moment, Daniel Levy should be looking to ensure that the North Londoners are positioned from a standpoint of strength to land his signatures on a free transfer, given it would ideally be a marquee addition to the roster while also not a massive financial setback.
