Tottenham are looking to send Will Lankshear out on loan for the rest of the season
Tottenham Hotspur are in the winter market for defensive and attacking reinforcements, as the board aims to back Ange Postecoglou to turn the club’s disastrous season around.
Spurs have yet to sign any outfield players in January after securing goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky but are expected to fortify Ange Postecoglou’s injury-ravaged squad before the transfer window slams shut. There is an urgent need for reinforcements owing to the injury crisis, with as many as 12 players missing Sunday’s embarrassing 3-2 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.
As far as the attacking unit is concerned, Postecoglou had identified Randal Kolo Muani as the primary target to bolster his striking force. However, Juventus have won the race for the Frenchman’s loan signing from Paris Saint-Germain, with the forward expected to complete his move to Turin soon.
Having missed out on Kolo Muani, Tottenham have shifted their focus toward OGC Nice star Evann Guessand. Amidst the club’s striker search, one player is keen to leave White Hart Lane temporarily.
According to an exclusive report from Tottenham News, Will Lankshear wants to leave Spurs on loan for the remainder of the season.
Will Lankshear made his senior debut for Tottenham in their Europa League win over Hungarian side Ferencvaros in October and scored his first goal during the dramatic 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray in Turkey just a month later. He was then sent off against Galatasaray in Turkey after receiving two bookings.
The academy starlet has struggled for minutes in the first team this season amid an injury crisis. After finishing as the top goalscorer for Spurs’ Under-21s last season, Lankshear would have expected to be handed regular minutes off the bench, particularly during Richarlison’s injury absence. The teenager was also one of the fringe players unused in Tottenham’s FA Cup third-round win over non-league side Tamworth FC earlier this month. He has clocked only nine minutes of Premier League action thus far.

Postecoglou revealed in one of his press conferences that the club are planning to send Lankshear out on loan after helping his fellow academy teammate Alfie Dorrington a temporary home at Scottish side Aberdeen. Thus, a loan move for the young striker makes total sense here.

Spurs need to find the right loan home for Lankshear to aid his development, unlike Dane Scarlett, whose temporary spell at Championship side Oxford United was recently cut short.
