Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy will be contemplating the probable sack of Ange Postecoglou given the current form of the Lilywhites that has left them in the relegation battle, very far from their season’s objectives of finishing in the top four, and the 62-year-old, per Corriere Dello Sport, has already held informal talks with former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri about potentially replacing the Australian at White Hart Lane.
And while there has been no formal offer made, the discussions suggest that the North Londoners have started exploring contingency plans should the former Celtic manager’s tenure at Hotspur Way come to an end.
Allegri brings a winning mentality at N17
The former Juventus manager is said to have reportedly received a lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, which he will evaluate once his agent, Giovanni Branchini, returns from Australia at the end of January. The Italian boasts a splendid record in Serie A with multiple scudetto silverwares with the Turin-based club, and he could exactly add that winning mentality to the current roster if Levy were to bring him to N17.
Keeping Ange makes sense?
The pressure on Postecoglou keeps on increasing with time, given how his side is struggling to put up reasonable performances on the pitch, with the Lilywhites having only a couple of wins in their past seven games in the Premier League and sitting 15th in the league, far below expectations of the North Londoners faithful.
Many think that Levy will keep going with Ange to see the result of the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals against Liverpool at Anfield Stadium, but it is important to note that Tottenham will face Leicester City and Brentford in the Premier League while also lining up against Hoffenheim and IF Elfsborg in the Europa League before that second leg. So the Spurs season could already be over by then.
