West Ham United could face a big problem in the January window, with Arsenal allegedly eyeing up moves for two of our targets.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is desperately on the hunt for attacking reinforcements at The Emirates, and that could really affect Graham Potter‘s plans at West Ham.
The January window will be crucial to Potter’s hopes of achieving success at the London Stadium.
West Ham have historically struggled in the winter window when it comes to making top signings, apart from 2020 when we brought in Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek.
Potter has made it very clear that he needs to strengthen his squad before the window slams shut in 11 day’s time.
West Ham cannot afford to stick with what we’ve got this month, just like we did last year – that will be quite simply unacceptable.
The club are definitely trying to make things happen, but as per usual, nothing is ever straightforward when it comes to West Ham and transfers…
Arsenal trying to hijack West Ham January window striker deals
It’s painfully obvious for everyone to see that the Hammers need to sign a striker this month.
Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug and Jarrod Bowen are all currently out injured, and the latter is the only one out of those three who is expected to return to action anytime soon.
Potter will be well aware that heading into the second half of the season with his current centre-forward options will be untenable.
The good news is that the Hammers are definitely trying to bolster the attacking ranks at the London Stadium.
However, Ben Jacobs – the journalist who was first to break the Lucas Paqueta to West Ham transfer – has made a big claim about two of our January transfer targets.
The football journalist took to his official X account, and suggested that Arsenal are considering moves for Igor Jesus and Evan Ferguson this month:
That’s quite obviously bad news for the Hammers.
West Ham are said to be in for Ferguson, 20, this month.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed that 23-year-old Brazilian striker Jesus is also on our radar.
Potter desperately requires the addition of a new centre-forward at West Ham before the January window slams shut.
Whilst Jhon Duran and Jonathan David are my two favoured options, I wouldn’t be disappointed with either Ferguson or Jesus.
My main concern though is that West Ham could miss out on both of them, with Arsenal trying to hijack two of our potential January window striker deals.
That would be a total disaster for everyone involved with the club.
