Once a highly regarded starlet at Barcelona, Ansu Fati has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou, with Tottenham Hotspur holding interest in landing the Spanish wide forward in the ongoing winter transfer window.
Multiple clubs interested to sign Fati
The Lilywhites, alongside their city neighbours West Ham United, hold interest in signing the 23-year-old as Ange Postecoglou looks to add creativity, speed, and take-on abilities to his roster—all of which Fati possesses. Serie A side Como were also subject to links for his signatures; however, Cesc Fabregas has played down links of a possible transfer.
Fabregas said, “The links (of Como with Ansu) are not true. There is nothing at all.”
Moreover, to support the North Londoners desire to bring Fati to White Hart Lane, Barcelona are said to be open to letting the La Masia academy starlet leave this January.
Wenham says no…
However, despite how he was once very highly regarded, John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, insists that Daniel Levy and the club should steer clear of any deal for Fati while citing the winger’s time at Brighton.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, the podcast host said:
“Fati was horrendous at Brighton. He didn’t live up to expectations at all. He is always injured, and he is a player we should be staying well clear of in my opinion. As I said, he didn’t perform at Brighton, and they had no interest in keeping him.
“Therefore, on what basis have Tottenham decided he is good enough for us? I can’t understand this, it would be madness if we were to sign Fati.”
Ange can’t afford another miss, can he?
If this rumour had been in papers a few years back, he would have been a dream signing, and the supporters at White Hart Lane would have been thrilled and dreaming; however, he has not been able to replicate his breakthrough performances, and given how Ange Postecoglou is under massive pressure, he cannot afford a failed transfer that doesn’t attribute to outputs (like Timo Werner).
