Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Lille centre forward Jonathan David as Daniel Levy looks to bring in a new striker to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s roster and support Dominic Solanke in the offensive line.
There have been reports (h/t GiveMeSport) suggesting how the Canadian international has been offered to the Lilywhites, given he is expected to pass a medical at White Hart Lane should the move come to it.
Wenham backs David transfer
Bringing in a new striker becomes more critical after Dominic Solanke’s latest injury blow that will leave Ange Postecoglou with another makeshift starter in the lineup, given how Richarlison has only returned from a long-term injury.
And therefore John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, would like Tottenham to bring Jonathan David to N17.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, the podcast host said:
“That could be a good signing. He is an improvement on Richarlison – who will probably only get injured again anyway – and would be good cover while Solanke is out.
“Therefore, David would absolutely improve the squad, and he is versatile too. He has Champions League experience, he is always one of the top scorers in France and just seems to score a load of goals every season.”
Tottenham need the Canadian…
David has netted 11 goals and boasts a further tally of a couple of assists in 18 Ligue 1 outings this season, and the North Londoners could do with that clinical presence upfront given their woes on both ends of the pitch of late.
The Lilywhites are looking to replace Richarlison as they look to bring in a commendable backup to Dominic Solanke, and the Brazil international’s tendency to serve the sidelines on a consistent basis isn’t helping Spurs on any grounds, especially as they look to compete for silverware.
Now it is to be seen if a transfer for the 2000-born striker can be materialised.
