Cristian Romero was spotted in training ahead of Tottenham’s Europa League clash vs Hoffenheim
Ange Postecoglou has been extremely unfortunate to endure an unprecedented injury situation in his second season at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Australian tactician has been without many key players in recent months, including almost the entirety of his back five. Only Pedro Porro has managed to keep himself fit when it comes to defenders. Persistent injury issues have massively hampered the Lilywhites’ performances and results, with Ange Postecoglou’s side slipping to 15th after a 3-2 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
This has put the 59-year-old under immense pressure at White Hart Lane, although he is not at immediate risk of losing his job but results must improve quickly to help him buy more time. Spurs have no time to lick on their wounds following the Everton defeat and must quickly switch their focus toward the trip to Hoffenheim in the Europa League. And Postecoglou has received a timely injury boost ahead of the North London club’s continental fixture.

According to The Independent journalist George Sessions on X, Cristian Romero was spotted in training on Wednesday afternoon as Tottenham prepared for the game against Hoffenheim. He also tweeted both Rodrigo Bentancur and Radu Dragusin were also present.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have undoubtedly been Tottenham’s biggest misses this campaign. Their lack of availability have seen Big Ange’s defence being torn apart to shreds by even half-decent sides. They have leaked goals for fun, with Big Ange forced to use teenage midfielder Archie Gray in central defence alongside Radu Dragusin.
Spurs’ defensive lynchpin, Romero has only played once over the last two months due to toe and groin issues respectively during a spell where Spurs have repeatedly been without crucial players. The Argentinean international has already missed 29 games so far this season, so having him back in training on Wednesday will lift spirits amongst a depleted and under-pressure squad.

In addition, the sight of Bentancur being able to train on Wednesday afternoon was also welcome. The South American midfielder suffered a nasty head injury during a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on January 8 and was ruled out of action for a minimum of 12 days due to concussion protocols.
