West Ham United appear to be close to finally bolstering our ranks in the January window.
Graham Potter absolutely has to strengthen his West Ham squad before the January window closes, and the good news is that it looks like he’s close to doing exactly that.
Potter made it clear from day one that he would like to make some new signings at the London Stadium in January.
Julen Lopetegui has left a real mish-mash of a squad behind.
The group of players at the London Stadium right now is an unbalanced and ageing one.
So the priority for Potter should be to add a real injection of youth, pace and power in the January window.
And that’s exactly what he’s seemingly about to do.
West Ham close in on £13m January window deal
The Hammers’ January window business has suddenly exploded into life it seems.
I have repeatedly insisted that Potter cannot afford to exit this window without having strengthened his ranks at the London Stadium.
And it seems like we could now be close to making our first signing of the month.
West Ham have agreed a £13 million deal with OH Leuven to sign Ezechiel Banzuzi.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim that the midfielder will fly into London to undertake his medical within the next 24 hours.
Banzuzi is an incredible athlete, and he has all of the qualities that we desperately lack in central midfield right now.
The Netherlands under-21 international possesses explosive power and pace, and has the athleticism and ball-carrying ability we have been crying out for since Declan Rice left to join Arsenal in the summer of 2023.
£13 million for Ezechiel Banzuzi will be an absolute steal, if West Ham do indeed manage to secure the deal in the January window.
I will wait until he’s actually holding up a Hammers shirt before I get too excited though!
