West Ham have been in talks with Chelsea over a number of important deals and the fee for the first can be revealed.
West Ham are locked in talks over a deal to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
The Hammers tried to sign Blues outcast Chukwuemeka on deadline day in the summer.
But the former Aston Villa Academy star remained at Chelsea, where he has only started one match, in the Europa Conference League.
Chukwuemeka is rated very highly, especially by England.
So it’s unclear why the powerful West Ham midfield target has failed to impress Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.
The 21-year-old all-action midfield ace has only made five appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this season, four of them off the bench in the League Cup and Conference League.
Maresca has said publicly that Chukwuemeka can and must leave Stamford Bridge this month.
Ahead of the January window opening, West Ham were linked with a fresh move for the technically gifted star.
But the likes of Borussia Dortmund and a RB Leipzig, among others, were said to be at the head of the queue.
Fee West Ham are paying for big Chelsea deal unveiled
Yesterday, though, a journalist revealed the Hammers were the mystery Premier League club in for Chukwuemeka.
It now appears more likely that he will arrive to help solve West Ham’s dire midfield problems over Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The ex Leicester star is another who has barely featured for Chelsea after signing for £30m in the summer.
But Maresca started Dewsbury-Hall in Chelsea’s win over Wolves.
And after the game he declared he wants him to stay in west London.
Although the former West Ham assistant boss did caveat that by saying ‘in January you never know’.
Now Hammers News can reveal the fee West Ham are paying for a big Chelsea deal and another may follow.
As talks continue over Chukwuemeka, West Ham have come to an agreement over one major deal with Chelsea.
Ex Chelsea boss Graham Potter has taken over at West Ham.
And it has emerged that negotiations to make him manager centred around other changes at the club.
Hammers technical director Tim Steidten, who almost joined Chelsea when Thomas Tuchel was boss, is a dead man walking at the London Stadium.
Steidten has been demoted by majority owner David Sullivan over the way he spent £155m on the club’s big rebuild in the summer.
Another deal could follow Macauley at West Ham
West Ham’s owners are angry with Steidten given what Potter has been left to work with to try and turn the club’s disastrous season around.
Potter’s response to a blunt Steidten question was very revealing in his very first press conference.
Steidten is now expected to leave West Ham in the near future.
Especially after West Ham struck a deal with Chelsea to reunited recruitment guru Kyle Macaulay with Potter in east London.
It was reported on Monday that West Ham have agreed a compensation figure with Chelsea for Macauley.
Now Hammers News can reveal the fee the Hammers are paying to bring the 38-year-old across London.
Football correspondent Graeme Bailey has given Hammers News the inside track on what is being seen as a huge coup for West Ham.
One only made possible by Potter’s appointment as manager.
And one which could transform West Ham’s transfer philosophy and hit rate.
One which is a relative bargain too it seems.
“I am told West Ham are paying Chelsea £1.2m for Macauley,” Bailey told Hammers News.
It has been confirmed that Macauley, who has worked with Potter at all his clubs, will be leading recruitment policy at London Stadium.
Although the Scot will carry out a different role, it is very much being seen as the writing on the wall for Steidten.
The deal to snare Macauley may not be the only one between the two clubs this week.
West Ham are continuing to push to win the race to sign Chukwuemeka.
They were given a boost overnight too as rival suitors Dortmund sacked their manager Nuri Sahin.
