Technical director Tim Steidten is on the brink of leaving at West Ham, talkSPORT understands.
Steidten only joined the Hammers in the summer of 2023, but has come under intense scrutiny over signings like injury-plagued Niclas Fullkrug, midfielder Luis Guilherme and defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
The German has seen his influence in this transfer window’s recruitment plans reduced dramatically.
With West Ham agreeing a deal with Chelsea to bring in new manager Graham Potter’s trusted transfer analyst Kyle Macaulay, it seems a matter of when and not if Steidten departs.
It is believed Steidten, who fell out with both David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui, has already started offering his services to other clubs.
The former Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen executive arrived in 2023 after the club’s Europa Conference League win, but things deteriorated considerably the next summer.
talkSPORT revealed in May 2024 that Steidten has been asked to stay away from the dressing room after it emerged that he was looking to replace Moyes.
Off the back of a Europa League quarter-final and ninth-place Premier League finish Moyes’ contract was coming to an end with the club director talking to alternatives.
A split did come to fruition, however, Steidten’s first hire turned out to be a poor one, with Lopetegui lasting just nine months in the role.
The Basque Europa League winner left with a record of seven wins, five draws and ten defeats from 22 games before being replaced by Graham Potter.
Speaking at the time, West Ham legend Tony Cottee told talkSPORT: “I think they should hang their heads in shame; Tim Steidten and David Sullivan and the board because it’s just a pathetic appointment.
“They should never have done it in the first place. It was just so the wrong appointment.

It wasn’t just in the dugout where there were issues either, with over £120million spent to back Lopetegui but so far little results.
Max Kilman was the most expensive arrival at £40m but hasn’t impressed, neither have forwards Fullkrug or Crysencio Summerville.
Teen signing Luis Guilherme is reportedly already for sale, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been the only arrival to hit the ground running.
