Tottenham will not move ahead with a bid for Ajax striker Brian Brobbey
Tottenham Hotspur are expecting movement before the January transfer window deadline and are understood to be working on a new forward.
The North London missed out on Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani, who joined Juventus on loan earlier this week, and are believed to be working on an alternative option in the offensive department.
The double injury blow to Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson last week has further stressed the importance of adding a new No.9 to Ange Postecoglou’s ranks. On Friday, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Tottenham had enquired Ajax about Brian Brobbey. The Lilywhites had asked for the Dutch striker’s loan conditions ahead of a possible swoop.

However, in a fresh update, Romano says on his official X account that Spurs are not expected to proceed with any bid or formal contact with Brian Brobbey after understanding the overall cost of the deal to take him to White Hart Lane, paving the way for West Ham United to sign the 22-year-old from Ajax.
“Tottenham are not expected to proceed with any bid or formal contact for Brian Brobbey after asking for deal conditions,”
“West Ham remain in contact and keen on getting it done but Ajax want obligation to buy included.”
Tottenham dropping out of the race to sign Brobbey should once again leave the fans frustrated. The White Hart Lane faithful have been patiently waiting for the club to accelerate the transfer business and provide Postecoglou with the assistance he desperately requires in this testing period.
Brobbey may have not set the Eredivisie on form this season but he remains a highly regarded talent who has scored 52 goals in 148 appearances for Ajax. The Netherlands international has also shown the creative side of his game with 26 assists. Also, at just 22, he has already gained volumes of experience in the Eredivisie and Europe.

As for Tottenham, they have been vying to bring in highly regarded young players at White Hart Lane and nurture them into their potential as part of their new transfer policy, and a player like Brobbey would have been an ideal fit under Big Ange. However, by refraining from not moving forward with a formal bid for the Ajax striker, Spurs have left themselves vulnerable once again ahead of the final nine days of the transfer window.
