Bayern Munich’s attempts to sign Jonathan Tah over the summer led to a failure, with the Bavarians unable to agree a fee for the German international with Bayer Leverkusen. The absence of another center back has been felt, with Dayot Upamecano and Minjae Kim forced to shoulder an incredibly large burden throughout the season without any adequate breaks. Clearly, Bayern needs to go back in the market to sign a defender. Instead of trying to persist with signing Tah, however, it seems that Bayern are monitoring other targets, via @iMiaSanMia:
Bayern will send scouts to Leipzig to watch Ousmane Diomande in action against RBL [in the Champions League] on Wednesday. The club maintain a very strong interest in the Ivorian defender and are considering a move either this month or in the summer. Sporting value Diomande at €50-60m.
The match in question was perhaps not Diomande’s best, with bottom feeders Leipzig managing to score two and win their first match of the Champions League season.
