Pascal Jansen says AZ Alkmaar have just given an important signal to West Ham ahead of the crunch Euro semi-final second leg.
West Ham head to Holland this week for the second leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final against AZ Alkmaar.
Hammers supporters urged David Moyes to rest most of the players who will start on Thursday night when they played Brentford on Sunday.
And the Scot did just that making nine changes as West Ham were comfortably beaten 2-0.
West Ham hold a 2-1 lead going into the second leg. But on the evidence of the first game, Moyes’ side still have their work cut out against a very energetic AZ side.
Hammers faced second half of double Dutch test to make final
West Ham look set for a difficult night because AZ have hit red hot form ahead of the second leg.
A near full-strength Alkmaar side made club history by blasting to a 5-0 half-time lead against lowly FC Emmen on Sunday night.
Like most Dutchmen in football, their manager Pascal Jansen is not short of confidence.
Before the first leg he publicly declared he knew the secret to beating West Ham.
AZ boss not lacking in confidence
And he downplayed the quality of Man United having watched West Ham beat them prior to that opening exchange.
After the defeat at the London Stadium, Jansen said he felt his team were the better side and was confident of turning the game around in Holland.
Now his confidence has clearly been enhanced by the 5-1 victory in their latest league encounter.
Because Jansen says AZ Alkmaar have just given an important signal to West Ham ahead of the crunch Euro semi-final second leg.

Speaking in his post match press conference, Jansen was asked about the result and his hopes ahead of West Ham.
“A very important signal we gave (to West Ham),” Jansen said.
“I was very happy with that.”
What Jansen must remember, though, is that West Ham are not FC Emmen.
We’ll be at close to full strength and fired up to reach the final. So it will be a completely different animal altogether.
Let’s hope Jansen’s confidence is misplaced arrogance once again.
